Netaji Subhashchandra Bose By Vidya Pandit (English)

Cuttack, the capital of Orissa, is situated close to the holy pilgrimage city of Jagannathpuri, Janakinath Bose's ancestral family was very famous in this capital city. Everyone had a very high regard for Janakinath Babu. He was also highly respected in government ranks. The government had honoured him with the prestigious title 'Raobahadur'. He was a well known judge in Cuttack. He would often visit the High Court in Calcutta for official purposes.

His wife Prabhavati Devi was a religious lady. She was a follower of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa.

Subhash Chandra Bose was born to Janakinath and Prabhavati Devi. They were fortunate to get a son like him Subhash had seven brothers and six sisters.

The Bose family was very large. Numerous relatives and friends frequently visited them. Parbhavati Devi would be busy with the household chores. The Bose family also had many servants.
