Ancestors Nehru's

Jawaharlal Nehru's ancestors were from Kashmir. But they shifted to Delhi many years ago. Jawahar's grandfather was an officer in Delhi police. He had a son called Motilal. After completing a bachelor's degree of law, Motilal Nehru started his practice. They were residing near a Nehar(canal) Hence, they were called Nehru. Gradually, he was became famous. He was earning quite well and was a reputed person in society. In time Motilal got married to Swaroparani. His happiness increased with the birth of a child, On 14th November 1889. They organized a ceremony and named the baby boy Jawahar Diamond)

Motilal had appointed special European staff to rear small Jawahar. He was kept in complete happiness, Motilal was very keen and conscious about Jawahar's education. He wanted his son to become expert in arts, horse riding, mountain climbing, etc. So he had provided all facilities to Jawahar. Pages 32
